MARCH FOR PEACE AND NONVIOLENCE
OCTOBER 2, 2009 - JANUARY 2, 2010
The march's goal is to inform and form public opinion about the danger of hundreds of nuclear weapons spread over the planet and also about the advantages that a progressive and proportional disarmament would bring to all countries.
First and foremost, we can see the end of world hunger by using only 10% of today's military expenditure.

CZECHS ASK OBAMA TO DROP RADAR PLAN |

Comunicati Stampa

lunedì 24 novembre 2008 |
League of Mayors against the Radar and Nonviolence movement sent a letter to U.S. President-elect Obama, asking him to reconsider the planned military radar base of the US National Missile Defence (NMD) system on Czech territory.
MEP Giulietto Chiesa and Czech MP Anna Curdova added their support to the letter, which states.
1. "Two thirds of the Czech citizenry do not agree with the arrangement. Despite their opposition, the Czech government has signed agreements with the United States that are due to be ratified shortly by the Parliament. The current deputies were elected before there was any public discussion about the project, however, and the nvolvement of the Czech Republic in the NMD system wasnot in the program of any political party.
2. The plan to place elements of this system in the heart of Europe isalready increasing tension between USA and Russia, as well as betweenUSA and the European Union, and will lead to a new expansion of the armsrace.
3. The matter is made even more sensitive by the fact that after the fallof communism in 1989, the Czech people vowed that a foreign army would never again be stationed on their territory."

WEEK OF CREATIVITY FOR THE WORLD MARCH FOR PEACE AND NONVIOLENCE
During this week more than 70 creatives from Europe and America met in Barcelona to plan the World March for Peace and Non-violence campaign, promoted by World Without Wars. This week will end with a little "march" across the streets of Barcelona as an exemple of the World March.
Painters, graphics, musicians, videomakers, informatic and communication experts,
translators and advertising experts from Spain, France, Belgium, Greece, Italy, Hungary and Chile met along this week to define the image and to begin organizing the first World March for Peace and Non-violence. The March will start from New Zeland on 2nd October (declared by UNO "international Day of Non-violence") 2009 and it will pass through more than 90 countries. It will reach Punta de Vacas, on the slopes of Aconcagua Mountain , on 2nd January 2010.
To end this creative week on Sunday 20th July the first memorial march will be done across the streets of Barcelona, making this town the first place to prepare the support for the Big March next year.
The starting point will be Plaza de Colón (on the las Golondrinas side) at 12.00 am, from where people will walk to Liceo subway station. The second step will reach Plaza Catalunya by subway, from where people will reach Arco de Triunfo by taxi and motorbikes. The march will cross Parque de la Ciudadela by foot and finally from Francia railway station it will arrive to Playa de La Barceloneta by bus. Here, the participants will end the march taking a bath in the sea at about 4.00 pm. All along the way there will be playful and informative activities. It is intended to be an example of what will happen on a large scale during the big World March for Peace and Nonviolence.
Anybody interested in taking part in this event this Sunday is welcome.
